Garden Smiles

When daisies are in bloom, it's like dozens of smiles looking up at you begging for a vase. When spring is in the air, thoughts turn to gardening and thumbs start turning green. Regardless of gardening skill, daisies are one of the easiest and most visually comforting flowers to plant.

Planting daisies is exceptionally easy for most climates, but technique is key. Make sure to plant daisies at least a foot apart. Because daisies are quick, lush growers, ample space is needed to achieve a good bloom harvest.

Deciding to plant with seed or full plant is another consideration for your garden. Planting mature daisies comes with significant risk of acclimation to your soil. If mature daisy plants are properly cared for initially, the benefits of beauty are immediate.

Where to Plant

To give your flower garden the proper pop of the daisy, segmented plantings are suggested. Instead of crowding other flower species amongst your daisies, give them the proper real estate they deserve. There are few flowers that carry the visual impact as a well groomed groupings of daisies in the perfect place in the garden. A current planting trend by botanical professions creating  an elevated bed of daisies in a single, segmented planting. If you choose to implement this technique, be sure to choose the correct focal point. Giving the best view of your prize bed of daisies is essential.

Occasions to Give Daisies

Although daisies aren't associated with any one gift giving occasion, giving a  nice bouquet of daisies in never considered an inappropriate choice. Daisies are romantic because they are an unexpected pleasure. Mother wouldn't be happier on their special day. A single daisy to your little girl after a ballet recital will be remembered forever.

Daisies are my favorite flower, really. Loved the hub and saw the title so had to read it. I'm hoping that, through your advice here, I am able to actually grow some. I do NOT have a green thumb, so my efforts are often futile. And, the NC sun can be brutal. But, I will give it another shot this summer. Thanks. BTW, when I worked on Mackinac Island I would walk around in awe at the size of the daisies there. I've got some great photos of me with those flowers from long ago.

I rated it useful and sent it off to my FB page.
